The Bro Code: Netgalley Review

Image
Thank you to Net Galley for the chance to read an ARC of The Bro Code  by Elizabeth Seibert! This story was a fun and fluffy romantic comedy that not only tackled the friends-to-lovers trope, but also spoke about the power of friendship, revamping the sexist 'Bro Code' and speaking about the #metoo movement.  Our story follows our main character Nick MacGuire who has been best friends with Carter O'Connell since they were in Kindergarten. The two "bros" are on the soccer team together and do everything together, including apply and try out for the same soccer team at a college that they are both hoping to get full-rides too. The catch? Carter has a younger sister Eliza who has always been "off-limits" but the more time Eliza and Nick spend together, the deeper their feelings become and the romantic tension between them grows.  Oh and fun fact? Elizabeth wrote this book originally in 2012 (when she was still in high school) on Wattpad and it was so popula

November 9: It's More Than Just a Date

Image
I think I just read one of the greatest books I will ever read in my lifetime.. yes I said it.  My best friend and I share books, and it's the best. We like a lot of the same stuff, but also different things. She likes fantasy and I like romance. She has gotten me into books like The Hunger Games  and I've gotten her into books like The Friend Zone .  More importantly, she is the one who showed me Colleen Hoover. And holy crap, Hoover quickly became one of my favorite authors, especially after this read.  I read this book in a day, I mean it's only 307 pages but still. When I finished, all I could say was "wow". I was speechless.. still am. November 9 is such an original tale. It's unique and magical. It's heart-breaking and heart-warming. And more importantly, it's the date that my best friend, who I mentioned above, was born! (That should have been enough of a giveaway that this book was going to be good). November 9 follows two characters: Benton (B

A Witchy Review!

HI FRIENDS! Welcome back! Today I have a fun review for you and it's about WITCHES... (hence the corny title of this post).  Today I will be reviewing This Coven Won't Break by Isabel Sterling. This is the SEQUEL to her debut novel, These Witches Don't Burn that was released in May of 2019. If you haven't read the first book, that's fine! Though you may be confused about the content I am reviewing, I will be describing both stories and going into a spoiler-free review. Let's start off by admiring this GORGEOUS cover!  This series follows our main character, Hannah, who lives in Salem, MA (how fitting). Hannah is an Elemental, which is a type of Witch. There are three different witches, or clans, as they are called. The types of witches are Elementals, Blood Witches and Casters. Those without magic are called regs (hello Muggles). The Elementals get their magic from the Earth's elements (water, air, ground and fire) and can manipulate those. Blood Witches a

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (Spoiler Free) Review!

Hi Friends! Welcome to my FIRST book review on this blog! If you couldn't tell from the picture, I am reviewing the highly anticipated Hunger Games prequel: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. When this book was announced, Hunger Games fans went WILD until they learned that it would follow our favorite villain; President Coriolanus Snow. The hype was still there, but dwindled down a bit. Now, let me start this off by saying I was late to the game when it came to The Hunger Games . When these books came out over 10 years ago, I had no desire to pick them up. I don't like fantasy or dystopia so I didn't see the need to read them. (I also fell asleep when the first movie originally came out, but that's a different story..) Fast forward to May of 2020, and my best friend convinced me to give this series a try, as she also had just read it for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. So I decided, why not? Turns out. I was missing out becau

A Blog About Books?!

Helllllllo all!  Welcome to my brand new Book Blog! Yes, you heard right.. Book Blog! I wanted to have another platform for me to be able to share book reviews, book lists, book hauls, and pretty much anything book related because why not? With each book that I review I have broken it down into a few different categories: 1. Plot & Plot Development 2. Character & Character Development 3. Writing Style 4. Overall Impressions & Opinions I myself, always like to try and read reviews before picking up my next book of my (never-ending) To-Be-Read (TBR) pile. Honestly, picking a book is hard enough with all of my options so if I can narrow that down in any way, well I'm all for it! Stay tuned for my first review... it's going to be a good one!
